Viper FTP

Viper FTP is a handy and powerful file manager for macOS that you can use to connect to your ExaVault account. Viper FTP allows you to transfer files by FTP, FTPS, and SFTP. Viper FTP allows you to upload files and folders to multiple servers with one click, transfer files in the background without blocking a server, create HTTP URL of a selected file, browse your activity (history), edit files on a remote server, manage local archives.

Features of Viper FTP:

  • Bookmark your personal, work and social upload servers via FTP. Viper FTP features groups, recent connections and favorites management to make your life more organized.
  • Search for files and information on both computer and remote FTP servers instantly.
  • Keep your transfers organized with the Transfer Queue. Each transfer you start has it's own trace log to watch how the transfer is going on.
  • Viper FTP monitors everything you have done and keeps a record in the History Log. Just browse it to see what file changes have occurred in your servers.
  • Viper FTP provides high secure AES-256 encryption in the CBC mode of single files using the password. Right-click the file(s) you want to encrypt or decrypt in the file listing and enter your password in a dialog box.
  • Viper FTP allows you to quickly preview your image, video, audio, document, and other local or remote files.
  • Edit remote files using any editor, with changes, automatically saved back to the server.

Downloading and Installing Viper FTP

You can download Viper FTP from its official website.

After you download the installation file, double click on the DMG file which you have downloaded. Drag Viper FTP icon to your Applications folder, or drag and place in a folder of your choosing.

Connecting and Transferring files with Viper FTP

Logging in to your ExaVault account with ViperFTP.

To create a server connection, go to your Applications folder and double click Viper FTP, a new window will appear. Click the Bookmark icon on the upper left side of the window. Under Groups choose My Servers and click the plus button just above My Servers folder.

1. Choose Protocol: FTP/SFTP/SFTP.

2. Add your Address[:Port] or Host name.

3. Add your User name.

4. Add your Password.

5. You can leave the initial remote path and initial local path blank.

6. Click OK.

Transferring files and folders is quick and easy. Besides just clicking and dragging the item that you want to transfer, you can also multi-select and drag items as a group.

To upload files (transfer from a local computer to ExaVault account):

1. Connect to an ExaVault server.

2. In the Finder or a second local browser locate the files or folders that you want to upload.

3. Click and hold the mouse button while dragging the item(s) from the Finder to the Remote pane of Viper FTP.

4. Release the mouse button. The items are copied (not moved) to the ExaVault account.

5. You can also use the top toolbar icon or the context menu (right-click on an item to upload).

To download files (transfer from your ExaVault account to your local computer):

1. Connect to an ExaVault server.

2. In the Remote pane, locate the files or folders that you want to download.

3. Click and hold the mouse button while dragging the item(s) from the Viper FTP Remote pane to the Finder.

4. Release the mouse button. The items are copied (not moved) to your local location.

5. You can also use the context menu (right-click on an item to download).
