Introduction to FileZilla

FileZilla is a free and open source FTP client for Windows, Mac and Linux. It is developed and maintained by Tim Kosse and the FileZilla team. Development started in 2001 and it has evolved to become one of the most popular FTP clients in use today.

FileZilla's feature list includes:

  • Encryption of file transfers with Secure FTP and FTP-SSL.
  • Manage files with cut and paste.
  • Connecting without a password using ssh keys.
  • Storing your passwords and site preferences in the Site Manager.
  • Bookmarking of local and remote folders for easy folder navigation.

Of all the FTP client programs out there, FileZilla is far and away the one used by the most ExaVault users to connect to their account.

FileZilla supports the following protocols for connecting to your ExaVault account:

  • FTP
  • SFTP
  • FTP-SSL
