Payment Method, Password & Security

The client details section of your ExaVault account is more than just a glorified address book. The client details section is also where you manage your payment info and client area password.

Managing Credit Cards

ExaVault uses the payment method that you signed up with to automatically pay your subscription when it is due. If you're paying by credit card, you can change/update your card in the credit card details section.

Within the credit card details section,

  • You can change your card on file by entering the new card number and expiration date. You will need to re-enter your card number if you need to update the expiration date.
  • You can remove your credit card from our system by clicking the Delete Saved Card Details button.

We should also mention a few points about the security of your credit card:

  • Your credit card number is not visible to anyone and is stored in an encrypted database. ExaVault staff do not have access to your credit card number.
  • Your credit card number is always transmitted securely through an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
  • Each transaction with your credit card goes through fraud protection checks.

Managing PayPal Subscriptions

If you used PayPal when you created your ExaVault FTP account, then you have automatically been enrolled in a PayPal subscription. As such, your credit card is managed by PayPal.

If you would like to set up a new PayPal subscription, on your next invoice due date:

  1. Log in to the client area.
  2. Click the Invoices button.
  3. Open the unpaid invoice at the top of the list.
  4. Select PayPal as the payment method.
  5. Click the PayPal Check Out button and complete the payment before it becomes past due.

Paying on your due date before 23:59 US Pacific time will set up a new subscription with PayPal. These restrictions are placed on us by PayPal so that recurring charges are only ever created for legitimate subscription services.

The Client Area Password

  5. Enter your new password in the New Password field.
  6. Confirm your password by re-entering it in the Confirm New Password field.

A word about strong passwords:

  • Use at least one UPPER CASE letter.
  • Use at least one number.
  • Use at least one special ch@rac+&r.
  • Change your password periodically.
  • Avoid using pets' names, favorite foods, family birthdays, or other passwords that are easy to guess.

One final note: The password for your client area can be different than the master account password you use to access your files. If you need to change that password, please see the accounts section.

Security Question

You may also set an optional, though strongly recommended security question, which can help us verify your identity in the event that we need to make changes to your account.

  2. Click the Update button on the left side of the page.
  3. Click the Security Settings link.
  4. Choose a security question from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter your answer.
  6. Confirm your answer.
  7. Click the Save Changes button.

If you have already set this up previously, you will need to supply the answer to your current security question before you can change it.
