We have some exciting things coming up this weekend that we’d like to tell you about!
Sharespaces have been improved and are now know as “Shared Folders”… You can now send files directly from your computer without having to upload them first. Shared folders and sent files are now available for all user accounts.
Also, there will also be a maintenance period on Friday, 30 March 2012 at 8PM US Pacific time.
Our Sharespaces, released early last year, allow you to quickly share folders with friends and colleagues. We’re rolling out an upgrade (and a new name!) for Sharespaces: introducing shared folders.
Shared folders are much like Sharespaces, except that you can create them with a single click. Over the weekend, we’ll be introducing a simple ‘Share’ link next to each folder. You’ll be able to click that and immediately get a URL that you can copy/paste to your email or chat client. Of course, all of the capabilities that you’ve come to love from Sharespaces are still available. Shared folders will include password protection, expiration dates and the ability to invite people via email.
Sending Files from Your Computer
Have you ever needed to quickly send a file to someone but it is located on your computer, not on your ExaVault account? Until now, you had to first upload that file, locate it in your File Manager, and then send it. Come Monday, you’ll be able to send files directly from your computer — and upload them to your account only if you feel like it.
You’ll be able to quickly browse to a file on your computer, fill out recipient information, and fire it off. All with just a few clicks.
In addition, we’ll be rolling out a host of minor features with this upgrade to our software, including quicker notification and share emails, optional new sharing permissions for user level accounts, expanded logging details for shared folders and sent files, and much more. All of our accounts, (even at the 35GB base level) will be getting all of these additional features at no additional cost.
Upcoming Launch Downtime
In order to get the new features rolled out to all users we are going to need to take our service offline for several short periods. We plan to keep the downtime to a minimum but expect services to be interrupted between the hours listed below.
