(1) All of our plans include unlimited bandwidth. However, if you are using your plan for data backup, you must use incremental backup software. Incremental software copies only the changed files each night, rather than all files, thus saving network bandwidth. If you need help choosing software or getting it setup, please contact us. .
(2) FTP Storage Plans include the ability to create unlimited user sub-accounts, and restrict access to certain sub-directories. Remote Backup Plans come with one master account, and do not allow the creation of any sub-accounts. See the FAQ for more information.
(3) FTP Storage Servers have been specially optimized for high-capacity, high-speed data transfer, and are guaranteed to produce better than 200KB transfer speeds assuming 1) you are in the Continental US, and 2) you have a connection with upstream bandwidth greater than 200KB/sec.
All our accounts include unlimited bandwidth. You may upload and download as many files as you'd like, and you will never incur an extra charge for bandwidth usage!
Every account lets you create an unlimited number of 'sub-accounts'. A sub-account is an additional login that you can give to a client, friend or business partner, so they can get to your files.
Since we give you an unlimited number of sub-accounts, you can setup your system however you want... for example, you might give one sub-account to each of your employees and one to each client.
You can restrict a sub-account so it only has access to certain files and folders. You can see everything (with the master password), but your sub-account only has a limited view.
This feature is frequently used when sharing files with clients. For example, you might want the 'acme_coffee' sub-account to only access the 'ACME Coffee Company Files' folder, while the 'starbucks' account only has access to the 'Starbucks Files' folder.
In some cases, you may want to make some of your files available ONLY for download (so your customers can't change your files). You can set your sub-account to 'read-only' access, which means that only downloads are allowed.
Conversely, if you only want to allow uploads, set your account for 'write-only' access.
Our system uses the proven industry standard FTP protocol. You can access your space with any one of thousands of FTP programs, including the FTP software built into Windows, Internet Explorer and Firefox. There is nothing proprietary, so you never have to worry about lock-in.
We let you log in as many times as you need, from as many computers as you want. You can be uploading files in New York while your clients in London, Los Angeles and Tokyo are downloading files... all at the same time!
An FTP Drop Box is an account that accepts incoming files, but does not let anyone see or download the files in the drop box. It's a little bit like a mailbox...anyone can drop a letter in, but only the Post Office has the master key to get the letters out.
We let you create an FTP Drop Box so that your customers can 'drop off' files for you, but can't see each other's files. Only you (with the master password) can get to everyone's files.
