Sub-Accounts
Sub-accounts are alternate logins to your ExaVault FTP space. With a sub-account, you can safely and securely provide other people with access to your FTP account.
Sub-account logins may have one of the following security restrictions placed upon them:
- Allow download-only access.
- Allow upload-only access.
- Allow full access (both upload & download).
In addition, sub-accounts may be configured to:
- Be locked to a specific sub-directory in your overall account.
- Hide files already on the server.
For more details, see Sub-Account Security.
Setting up Sub-Accounts
To access the sub-account setup window:
- Click the 'Accounts' link at the top of every page in the Client Area.
- Click on the 'Sub-Account Administration' link.
Inside of the Sub-Account Administration window, you will see an overview of all of the sub-accounts that you have created for your FTP server.
- To add a new sub-account, click the 'Add New' link.
- To edit an existing sub-account, click the 'Edit' link next to the sub-account you wish to edit.
- To delete a sub-account, click the 'X' link next to the sub-account you wish to delete.
About Adding & Editing Sub-Accounts
When you add or edit a sub-account, you will see a window where you may edit the following details:
- Sub-account username
- Sub-account password
You may choose any username you'd like for your subaccount, but be aware of three restrictions:
- Sub-account usernames must be alpha-numeric
- Each username must be unqiue (e.g. you cannot have two accounts with a username of
fred). - We do not allow anonymous logins.
